FOUR ARRESTED IN SH40 MILLION FAKE TSC RECRUITMENT SCAM.

Detectives attached to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) have apprehended four individuals in Bomet County for their alleged involvement in a large-scale fraud scheme that targeted job seekers with counterfeit TSC recruitment letters, resulting in losses exceeding Sh40 million.

The suspects include David Kemei, the TSC Director for Konoin Sub-County; Rosebella Chepkemoi Korir, a former aspirant for the Bomet County Woman Representative position; and two teachers, Leonard Siele Towett and Mercy Cherotich. They were arrested following an extensive investigation by the detectives.

Investigations have uncovered that the suspects specifically targeted unemployed teachers and other members of the public, soliciting large sums of money in exchange for forged appointment letters that falsely promised permanent, pensionable positions with the TSC. Many victims reportedly resorted to taking loans, selling property, or depleting their savings in hopes of securing these jobs.

The four individuals were presented in court today before the Bomet Law Courts, where detectives secured 14-day custodial orders to facilitate thorough investigations.

The fraud scheme is believed to reach beyond Bomet County, extending to Kericho, Narok, Kisii, and Nyamira, with ongoing efforts to identify and apprehend additional suspects linked to the network.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), in partnership with the TSC, is committed to dismantling criminal operations that exploit job seekers and erode public trust in government institutions.
