CS Ruku Calls for Mt. Kenya Unity, Defends Government’s Development Record.

Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes, Geofrey Ruku, on Feb, 15/2026 attended a church service at Joy Holy Trinity Church in Thiba Ward, Mwea Constituency, Kirinyaga County. Accompanied by state department heads and Mwea MP Mary Maingi. Ruku emphasized the importance of unity among the people of Mt. Kenya while dismissing divisive politics that he claims are baseless.

During his address, Ruku criticized the former Deputy President for allegedly spreading hate against the current government, insisting that such rhetoric lacks a foundation in development. He pointed to the successful completion of infrastructure projects in the region, citing the well-maintained highway from Makutano to Marwa as an example. “This is the same road that Gachagua uses; why is he bitter?” Ruku questioned, highlighting the substantial gains in infrastructure that Mt. Kenya has experienced.

Ruku further asserted that the region has not been overlooked in the governance landscape. “Mt. Kenya has provided us with a Deputy President, Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Chief Officers, and Directors who head various state departments,” he noted, asserting the region’s significant role in national leadership.

The Cabinet Secretary urged the community to remain patient and supportive of the government, advocating for a second term to ensure the continuity of ongoing projects. He expressed optimism about the future development of the region, encouraging unity among the residents to facilitate progress.

MP Mary Maingi echoed Ruku’s sentiments, reaffirming the region’s support for the current Deputy President, Kithure Kindiki. She firmly stated, “The seat for the Deputy President is not vacant,” dismissing any ambitions from the opposition party, ODM, for this critical role in the upcoming elections. Maingi emphasized the essential function of a Deputy President in assisting the President with his duties, asserting, “Kindiki is the right man for the job.”

Both leaders called for collaboration among the people of Mt. Kenya, urging them to focus on development rather than engage in divisive politics. They underscored the importance of stability and unity in fostering an environment conducive to growth and progress.

As the region gears up for the upcoming elections, the messages from Ruku and Maingi serve as a rallying cry for the constituents of Mwea and the broader Mt. Kenya region. Their commitment to supporting the current administration and the Deputy President reflects a desire to build a cohesive and prosperous future for all residents.

In conclusion, the emphasis on unity and development from leaders like Geofrey Ruku and Mary Maingi highlights the critical need for collaborative efforts among the people of Mt. Kenya. By focusing on shared goals and rejecting divisive politics, they aim to pave the way for continued progress and improved infrastructure in the region.
