Ndia MP George Kariuki Condemns Assault on Women Leaders, Calls for Respect.

Ndia MP George Kariuki has strongly condemned the assault of women, particularly women leaders, during a UDA grassroots mobilization event held today at what was formerly Sifa Gardens, now designated as UDA Gardens. Although the event was centered on reaffirming support and loyalty to President William Ruto, Kariuki took the opportunity to address the pressing issue of violence against women in leadership roles.

The MP’s remarks came in light of recent incidents, including an alleged attack on Muthoni Marubu, a fellow woman leader. Kariuki highlighted the troubling nature of such actions, asserting that “every woman is somebody’s relative, so respect them as you would your relative!” His emphasis on respect echoed throughout the gathering, where community members rallied for unity and support among leaders

Kariuki also articulated his frustration over the responsibilities of leaders to actively denounce acts of violence. He posed a critical question to the audience: “What type of a leader would get on a microphone and not condemn goons attacking leaders in a function that he is in?” This pointed critique called out public figures who fail to stand up against misconduct, underscoring the necessity for accountability among elected officials.

While today’s event primarily focused on bolstering UDA’s support for President Ruto, Kariuki’s remarks regarding the treatment of women leaders were timely and necessary. He framed his comments within the context of the broader goals of the UDA, which seeks to foster an environment of support and respect for all individuals participating in political discourse.

Kariuki’s message resonated deeply with the audience, inspiring productive discussions about the need for unity and respect within the community. By addressing the issue of violence against women leaders, he reinforced the importance of solidarity among all leaders, urging them to create a political landscape that reflects these values.

While the gathering aimed to solidify allegiance to President Ruto and his vision for the country, Kariuki’s emphasis on the dignity of women leaders served as a crucial reminder. It highlighted that respect and compassion should always underpin political engagement and discourse. The event not only reaffirmed Kirinyaga’s commitment to Ruto but also set a tone for a future where women in leadership are honored and respected in Kirinyaga County and beyond.
