Jitume Huduma Centre Set to Revolutionize Service Accessibility in Mwea East.

Residents of Mwea East in Kirinyaga County are set to experience a significant shift in public service accessibility with the nearing completion of the Jitume Huduma Centre, located strategically at the Deputy County Commissioner’s Office. Currently 98% complete, this facility, initiated in November 2024, aims to bring essential government services closer to the community, thereby enhancing service delivery.

The Jitume Huduma Centre boasts three fully integrated wings, each designed to cater to various needs of the residents. The Jitume Hub encompasses several innovative facilities, including a modern Kazi Centre that can accommodate up to 100 people, a Learning Centre with a capacity for 50, and a Creative Hub for another 50 individuals. Interior painting, floor and tiling work is already complete.

In addition to these impressive features, the centre will host critical public services, including the Land Registry, the Office of the Ombudsman, a studio, and a Judiciary virtual court. This arrangement will enable residents to access crucial legal and administrative documentation without the arduous travel to distant towns like Embu or Kerugoya.

Residents have expressed their relief and enthusiasm regarding the project. Mercy Njoki, a local resident, highlighted the positive impact on the community, stating, “We are impressed by the government’s efforts because we can now access huduma services under one roof.” This sentiment is echoed by many in the community who have long faced challenges in accessing essential services.

Mwea East Division Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) Mwenda Munene echoed the excitement, highlighting the project’s broader impact. “The government’s goal is to serve the people, and this centre is set to bring services closer to the people and under one roof,” he told journalists. He emphasized that the establishment of the centre will not only save residents’ time but also enhance transparency in service delivery, ultimately benefiting the community as a whole.

Additionally, the project has had a substantial economic impact on the local community. Sisha Nyaga, another resident, explained the project’s contribution to local employment, noting, “This project offered employment to locals and business to suppliers and will offer even more employment to the people once opened.” Nyaga expressed optimism about the economic environment changing for the better, as the centre’s operations will likely encourage the establishment of businesses catering to visitors and residents alike.

Once fully operational, the Jitume Huduma Centre is anticipated to be a game-changer for Mwea East residents. It represents a significant stride toward easing access to government services and improving the overall quality of life in the area. By bringing critical services under one roof, this centre not only signifies the government’s commitment to prioritizing grassroots needs but also fosters a sense of community empowerment and economic growth.
